Recommend an archery shop in SW Midlands – UK

Question:

Hi All, As subject really. I’m in Worcester area and could do with recommendations for a good archery shop. I know of all the mail order companies, but as I’m buying a new bow I really need a hands on approach. Thanks in advance. Cheers Ian

The nearest to you is "Centreshot" in Malvern.  I’m not sure where it is exactly, but I’m sure JohnK will give a more precise location when he reads this. The next nearest is Wales Archery Specialists in Crick, Wales (not too far from Chepstow). HTH, -Mac

You rang? Centreshot isn’t too hard to find if you know Malvern.  Drop me an e-mail and I’ll send you precise directions.  Alternatively, call them on (01684) 579109.  Their prices are very competitive and they offer good support to their customers.  At the moment, the shop is only open on Friday afternoons/evenings, and Saturday during the day.  However, they can sometimes open by appointment and the phone line is always monitored.  Disclaimer – the owners are friends of mine, but I wouldn’t recommend the shop if I didn’t think they offered a good service. > The next nearest is Wales Archery Specialists in Crick, Wales (not too far > from Chepstow).

Wales are also very good, but further away and the prices are a little higher. Ian – I agree with you completely.  IMHO it’s vital to get hands on experience of a few bows before you buy. Best of luck, John > HTH, > -Mac

Thanks John and everybody else who replied. I actually popped up to Centreshot this lunchtime to see where it was and what it sold. I was lucky finding it as friends live on Fruitlands and knew exactly where it was As you say, it is only open on Fridays and Saturdays but a quick peek through the window shows they have a good stock. I would prefer to have a local shop as then I can keep returning when I need help and advice. I’ll pop back during opening hours to see what they really have. Again, thanks all. John, do you shoot at Manor Park ?  I ask as I’m going up there Tuesday evening for my initial visit with a view to joining the club. Cheers Ian

A good idea.  Were you interested in compound or recurve, as I can give you a brief run down of what they have in stock. > I’ll pop back during opening hours to see what they really have. > Again, thanks all. > John, do you shoot at Manor Park ?  I ask as I’m going up there Tuesday > evening for my initial visit with a view to joining the club.

Fantastic!  Yes I do, and you’ll find us running our beginner’s course tonight.  New members, or potential new members, are always welcome If you want, you could come and shoot with us a couple of times to see if you like it.
