JOAD Compound Bow weight

Question:

It recently came to my attention that the weight that a JOAD compound shooter may shoot may be limited.  A couple of our club members that shoot compound bows are intested in what this limit might be since they regularly shoot bows that are set to about 75 pounds.   In the case of most kids of 15, I would be concerned that they have over bowed themselves,  and I have mentioned this to the club many times, but these particualr kids could almost substitue as linebackers on 49ers..

Response:

If yourJOAD program includes shooting any FITA rounds, your peak bow weight will be limited to a maximum of 60#, regardless of the % let-off. Laurent.

I’m not sure about NAA/JOAD, but the NFAA does have a limit on bow weight for junior and young adult classes – 60#, and the same for women. Linebackers or not. — Larry Diehr IMHO – I _am_ right
